Where everybody knows your name….

We tend to go out to eat for lunch during the week than we do for dinner. However, when it’s appropriate, we like to order a cocktail. My go to these days? The Aperol Spritz.

The fantastic bartenders at W.E. Sullivan’s make it the perfect way: light on the Aperol, heavy on the spritz. True, their food is amazing too. Something for everyone!!! When you go in to try, let them know we sent you!

Sports!

Did you know that Peoria is home to one of the nicest baseball stadiums to a minor league team – The Peoria Chiefs! A St. Louis Cardinals affiliate, this amazing stadium is quite the sight to see! Our Peoria Rivermen Hockey team’s home is at the Peoria Civic Center. We have incredible travel youth soccer leagues, baseball and softball teams, which are housed all over the tri-county area.

There’s a paved walking trail that goes through Peoria?????

Did you know there is a trail that goes through Downtown Peoria up through Peoria Heights then to North Peoria, Dunlap, Princeville, and THEN to Rock Island??? Paved, rocky, over the bridge, through a tunnel….The paved Kellar Trail hooks into the Rock Island Trail which can take you northwest to Rock Island. Cross over the walking bridge and take a break to Kellar Station on Knoxville and grab a coffee at CXT or walk on over Cyd’s in the Park. Take your time and enjoy!

Proud to be a Bradley Brave!

Bradley University has one of the most beautiful campuses I have ever visited. Maybe I’m a little biased as it was why I came to Peoria…The history of this school and surroundings has such importance. it is shared by this staff and students, the alumni, and of course, the community. Home to the Bradley Braves, amazing musical and art talent, state of the art engineering, communications, and business schools….take a tour when you visit!

The World’s Most Beautiful Drive

Recreation

One of the highlights of a community tour we love to give to out of town clients, is the unsuspected turn off Prospect to Grandview Drive. Coined “The World’s Most Beautiful Drive” by Teddy Roosevelt, this 3 mile stretch of hills and turns has the most gorgeous views of the river and bluff you have ever seen. Perfect for running, walking, biking….many come to use this scenic background as the backdrop for wedding, family, senior photos….it’s close to Downtown Peoria Heights so you can make a day of it!

One of our favorite places for good reason….

Donnelly’s Restaurant has been a staple in Peoria for years. It’s been a huge part of our lives because, it’s where Andy and I met. From the old locations in Campustown and ‘The Rock” off Glen, people flock to Donnelly’s for their Fried Chicken, Horseshoe, Walleye, new entrees and of course a pint of Guinness, which makes this a staple for us.

Three Words: Bacon. Bleu. Fries.

I am not a fan of bleu cheese. However…..when it comes to The Publik House in Peoria Heights, they changed my mind. Between their delicious side salad with their secret sherry vinagrette dressing and their Bacon Bleu fries, they had me at hello. Don’t forget their awesome bar selection with craft cocktails, beers on tap and specials! Their menu is on point and has something for everyone!

Best Italian Food hidden in a strip mall….

We love going out to local restaurants throughout the Peoria area. More recently, it’s been takeout or curb- side….

One of our favorite go-to’s for Italian is Rizzi’s on Sheridan. You always know what you are getting and they never skimp on portions!!!!

Enjoying the Greater Peoria Area….on foot!

For those of you who do not know, I love running. I was training and planning to run the NYC Marathon this weekend before Covid hit. Instead of running through the 5 Burroughs of New York City and crossing a finish line in front of the iconic Central Park, I ran throughout Peoria (with help from friends on the route) and finished in the common area/neighborhood park where I live.

It was truly gratifying and beautiful (and yes, tiring) to run 26.2 miles through Peoria.

I would do it again.
